Site Description: A moderately exposed basalt (pillow lava?) platform with boulders at low water and on top, situated on the western facing side of the Rue peninsula of Rathlin Island. Stacks occur on this shore as well with high platforms extending from them with the same community. Backing was a shingle area which has a diverse maritime flora including lichens and the angiosperm 'oyster plant' (very rare in Northern Britain). Behind this was grass slope and moderate cliffs. A lower zone of Alaria and Laminaria occurred, but the tide was not low enough to allow anything but a superficial species list.
