Site Description: The transect site is taken across a north facing exposed beach at the tip of Magilligan Point. It is situated 60-70 m to the west of a 'Range Boundary' marker. The intertidal region was taken as stretching down from the strand line to low water level. The sediment is mainly medium grade sand, with buried shells (especially at level 3) and shells scattered on the surface. No black layer was in evidence. Sand on the lower shore was very mobile.
