Site Description: An island on the open coast of Island Magee, joined at low water by a narrow boulder causeway. The north and south ends of the island have sea stacks with wave cut platforms and ridges at the bottom and the causeway side platforms and boulders, with a sloping grassland backing, the eastern side is exposed moderately high cliff with vertical and steep rock intertidal regions at the base. It was at the latter habitat the transect was taken. The transect on the intertidal region has narrow well defined zones with a large splash area extending 5-6 m up the cliff. Some crevices occurred throughout the intertidal with overhangs and rock pools occurring in wave eroded hollows towards the lower shore. The island is important for nesting birds. Those seen include guillemots, razorbills, puffins, kittiwakes, gulls, cormorants, shags.
