Introduction:

This site is located 10km east of Dungiven and lies just NE of the Glenshane Pass (A6). A number of stream sections are accessible via a farm track north of Eden Lodge [IGR 27795 40582]. These include the Altakeeran Burn and a nameless stream to the west, and the Altron Burn (Fig. 37).

This site contains evidence of post-Palaeocene, normal movement on the regionally important Tow Valley Fault (Highland Boundary Fault) which has resulted in the juxtaposition of Carboniferous, Triassic and Palaeocene strata against the much older Dalradian Supergroup.
