Summary of site:

Ivy Hole is a 10m deep hole in the Knockmore Limestone that takes the flow of a small stream. It is part of a pair of dolines (large depressions caused by the collapse of caves beneath). Dye testing has demonstrated that the water emerges at Carrickbeg.

To see how Ivy Hole relates to the Reyfad system, read the main account in site record ‘Belmore, Ballintempo & Tullybrack Uplands; Reyfad-Carrickbeg'.

The site is threatened by the dumping of household rubbish - unsightly, unsanitary and a major source of pollution of the underground flow of the area.
