Ceramium flaccidum (Kützing) Ardissone


Description: Thallus cylindrical, erect to 12 cms long. Densely branched and incompletely corticate. Rhizoids unicellular.

Habitat: Epiphytic and epilithic in the low-littoral.

Distribution: Probably under-recorded in the British Isles, generally south westerly, including the Channel Isles. Europe: the Mediterranean. Further afield: the Canary Islands and Australia. Probably cosmopolitan.

Similar Species: All Ceramium species with ecorticate internodes.
