Gastroclonium ovatum (Hudson) Papenfuss


Description: A brownish-red thallus growing to 15 cms long, irregualrly branched, the final branches are small, hollow and vesicle-like, usually in bunches towards the tip of the main branches.

Habitat: Common in littoral pools. Epilithic or epiphytic.

Distribution: Generally of a south-western distributed around the British Isles, western Scotland, including the Shetlands, all around Ireland, the Isle of Man and south-west England. Europe: Azores, Portugal, Spain and France.
