Description: Small, erect frond rising from a discoid base, with a short stipe, broadining and deviding dichotomously once or twice to form branched flattened blades. Up to 5 cms long.
Habitat: On the steep walls of deep rock pools frm the upper sublittoral to about 10 m.
Distribution: British Isles: only on southwestern shores of England and Wales also the Channel Islands. Europe: the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Further afield: the Canary Isles, Jamaica, Caribbean, Ceylon, Samoa and Japan.
Similar Species: Chondrus crispus Stackhouse.
