Description: Growing as a crust to 3 cms with small papillae, or upright outgrowths, erect to 2 mm high in which tetrasporangia or carpospores are formed.

Habitat: Very rare. Sublittoral, epilithic on small stones in the sublittoral.

Distribution: Western distribution, records from Ireland: Cos Galway and Clare with a few records from Scotland, Wales and England. Europe: France.
