Acrochaetium brebneri (Batters) Hamel, 1928


Description: Very small uniserate filaments within the host and a few erect branches bearing the reproductive structures.

Habitat: Very rare. Endophytic in Gloiosiphonia capillaris in the lower littoral and sublittoral to 5 m.

Distribution: Known in Scotland from only one site, in England from Rennie Rocks, Plymouth in Devon. Further afield: South Africa.

Similar Species: All species of Acrochaetium are similar, microscopic examination is required for identification.
