Description: Unbranched uniseriate filaments to 5 cms or more in length. Attached or unattached.

Habitat: Common, mainly in brackish wate of the upper littoral.

Distribution: Widespread around the coasts of the British Isles. Europe: France, Netherlands, Baltic and Norway.

Similar Species: Other species of Ulothrix, Urospora and Rhizoclonium, the distinction is microscopic.
