Description: Thallus dichotomously branched, terete, to 50 cms long with a felt-like surface and spongy feel. Utricles bluntly pointed.
Habitat: Common. Epilithic in mid-littoral rock pools and the upper sublittoral.
Distribution: Widespread on the coasts of the British Isles. Europe: Norway. Further afield: Japan
Similar Species: Other branched species of Codium do not have a mucronate utricles.
