Description: Large green and spherical, up to 30 cms across with felt-like surface and spongy feel.
Habitat: Very rare. Epilithic in the sublittoral.
Distribution: Few records from the British Isles including the Channel Isles. Europe: Mediterranean, Adriatic, Azores, Portugal, Spain, France and Belgium. Further afield: Canary Isles.
Similar Species: No other similar species in Europe.
