Description: Thallus filamentous, large to 25 cms long, much branched.
Habitat: Rock pools of the mid-littoral and the shallow sublittoral.
Distribution: Generally distributed around the British Isles including the Shetlands and Channel Islands. Europe: Mediterranean, Portugal, Atlantic coasts of Spain and France, Atlantic Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Faroes, Baltic Sea and Iceland. Atlantic coast of North America: New Jersey to Florida. Further afield: Canary Islands, Jamaica and the West Indies, British Columbia.
Similar Species: Most species of Cladophora are similar and difficiult to identify, may be under-recorded.
