Harveyella mirabilis (Reinsch) Schmitz et Reinke


Description: Minute parasite on Rhodomela confervoides. Cushon-like, up to 2 mm in diameter. Pale to whitish in colour.

Habitat: Widespread but only on Rhodomela. Littoral into the sublittoral to 26 m.

Distribution: Generally distributed around the British Isles. Europe: France, the Baltic, Norway, Faroes, Iceland and north Russia. Greenland. Atlantic coast of North America: Canada and from Maine to Rhode Island, also in the Pacific.

Similar Species: Choreocolax polysiphoniae Reinsch however Harveyella grows only on Rhodomela.
