Description: Very small uniseriate filaments growing endophytically with only a few filaments, one or two cells long, rising through the surface of the host.
Habitat: Endophytic in Polysiphonia in the upper sublittoral.
Distribution: Only definitely known from Galway other quoted records include the Isle of Man. Europe: southern North Sea, east Baltic Sea and Norway. Atlantic coast of North America: Canada and Massachusetts.
Similar Species: All species of Acrochaetium are similar, microscopic examination is required for identification.
