Description: Microscopic. Unicellular, spherical in thick mucilage. Pinkish-brown to reddish in colour.

Habitat: Very rare. In sand.

Distribution: England: Essex. Europe: Atlantic coast of France and Norway.

Similar Species: Porphyridium is also unicellular but not pinkish-brown to reddish in colour.
