Grania efflorescens (J.Agardh) Kylin, 1944


Description: Plants of very small uniseriate filaments with prostrate and erect axes which grow to 6 mm long.

Habitat: Mainly epiphytic but also grows on stones and shells in the sublittoral to 15 m.

Distribution: Generally on the north-eastern shores of the British Isles but recorded from the south-west of England and Wales and the south of Ireland. Europe: Baltic Sea, Denmark, Norway, Faroes and Sweden. Greenland. Atlantic coast of North America: Canada. Further afield: Arctic Sea including Spitzbergen and Novaya Zemlaya.

Similar Species: All species of Acrochaetiaceae are similar, microscopic examination required for identification.
