Laurencia pyramidalis Bory ex Kützing


Description: Thallus with terete main axes erect to 30 cms high. Lateral branches arranged spirally. Axes with terminal depression with thick-walled medullary cells, subcortex and outer cortex.

Habitat: Very rare. Epiphytic, near extreme low water in rock pools.

Distribution: Only on the southern shores of the British Isles: Dorset, Isles of Scilly and the Channel Isles. Europe: France.

Similar Species: Laurencia obtusa.
