Description: Thallus filamentous, densley branched and erect to 30 cms, Main axis polysiphonous with 7 pericentral cells and fine monosiphonous lateral branches.
Habitat: Epilithic and epiphytic, sublittoral to 30 m.
Distribution: Widely distributed around the British Isles including the Shetlands and Channel Islands. Europe: Mediterranean, Portugal, Atlantic coasts of Spain and France, Baltic Sea, Norway and the Faroes.
Similar Species: Dasya is similar but the main branches are corticate to some degree.
