Bembidion punctulatum Drapiez, 1821

Description: A medium-small (4.5-5.5mm) bronze ground beetle, living among shingle and on wet sand at the side of small rivers and lakeshores, particularly in the uplands.

NI account: Widespread but local in hill areas where suitable gravelly riverbanks exist. Northern and western in Britain according to Luff (1998).

Ecology: A riparian species recorded from gravel or coarse sand on riverbanks and lakeshores.

Distribution: A Eurosiberian Boreo-temperate species (54) found in montane situations across Europe except Fennoscandia, south to north Africa and Asia Minor and east into western Siberia.
