Description: Small reddish brown fossorial ground beetle of shingle or fine sandy or muddy river banks. Occasionally on humus rich soils and gardens. Widespread throughout GB but very local.
NI account: Excluded from the current Irish List because the only records are those of Hardy (1897) for Rathlin Island, Antrim and Standen for Portsalon, Donegal (compare status of Carabus violaceus). These are supported by voucher specimens in the National Museum of Ireland collection, but the locality data are unreliable and the records have been disregarded.
Distribution: A European Wide-temperate species (63) distributed across Europe into western Turkestan.
Distribution Map from NBN: Clivina collaris at National Biodiversity Network mapping facility, data for UK.
iNaturalist: Clivina collaris at iNaturalist World Species Observations database.
