Description: A tiny red-brown flattened shell with fine, close, growth lines creating a matt sheen. Umbilicus open and wide. Widespread in wet places. 1.2-1.5 mm wide.

World Distribution: Found throughout Europe and across Siberia. Distribution type: Eurasian Wide-temperate (65).

Irish Distribution: Widespread and generally common.

Ecology:

  • Common in wet unimproved pasture and in the margins of wetlands
  • Also in wet woodland
  • Where acidic ground conditions occur it is usually restricted to woodland habitats
