Description: A small slug (25-35 mm) with a distinct keel along the back and colour light yellow-gray to blue-gray. Probably closest to a pale Tandonia budapestensis but with flatter, less obvious tubercles and notably, with a uniformly pale sole. 25-35 mm.

World Distribution: Described originally from Ukraine, it is widespread in south-eastern Europe from around the Black Sea to Greece.

Irish Distribution: There is a single Irish record for a churchyard at Spiddle, West Galway, 6 September 2011. In Britain there are a number of records for south-west England and South Wales and it is probably very local but overlooked in Ireland.

Ecology:

  • Often found in disturbed places in Britain, such as churchyards and waste ground

Key Identification Features:

  • A small, rather pale, brownish slug
  • A distinct keel along the back which is usually the same shade as the rest of the back
  • Mantle with v-shaped groove by the mantle pore and this situated towards the back of the mantle
