Description: Sporophyte forms small erect tufts of filaments up to 4 cms long, sparsely branched. Sporangia towards distal end.
Habitat: Very rare.
Distribution: British Isles: recorded from the southern counties with a few scattered records elsewhere. Europe: Mediterranean, Portugal, Spain and France. Further afield: Canary Islands and Japan.
Similar Species: Derbesia marina (Lyngbye) Solier.
