Description: Thallus large unattached with only rudimentary rhizoids if any at all. Growing as tufts or balls to 35 cms or more, branches incurved.
Habitat: Rare. Tangled around other algae or Zostera in sheltered areas of the lower littoral and upper sublittoral.
Distribution: Possibly under-recorded in the British Isles. Europe: Mediterranean, Portugal, Atlantic coasts of Spain and France.
Similar Species: Most species of Cladophora are similar and difficult to identify. Similar to C. aegagrophilia.
