Description: Microscopic filaments, irregularly branched with occasional long twisted hairs.

Habitat: Endophytic between the cortical cells of other algae or endozoic in mollusc shells. Littoral and sublittoral.

Distribution: Records few, from sites scattered around the the British Isles: Isle of Man; England: Kent, Dorse; Scotland: Isle of Colonsay and the Shetlands; Ireland: Cos Wexford, Cork, Mayo and Antrim. Further afield: the Canary Islands.

Similar Species: Microscopic examination required for identification.
