Entocladia flustrae (Reinke) Taylor


Description: Microscopic fine filaments branching irregularly and coalescing, the filaments often free at their ends and the cells rectangular in shape.

Habitat: Growing within the exoskeleton of certain Bryozoa and on algae in the lower littoral and sublittoral.

Distribution: Recorded from scattered sites around the British Isles including the Shetlands. Europe: Spain, France, Baltic Sea, Norway and Iceland. Greenland. Atlantic coast of North America: Canada, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Long Island.

Similar Species: Epicladia requires microscopic examination for identification.
