Fucus evanescens C Agardh


Description: Thallus relatively large and variable with midrib. Receptacles flattened, relatively short and broad, not markedly elongated.

Habitat: Very rare. Sheltered shores.

Distribution: Only recorded in the British Isles from northern shores. Europe: Baltic, Norway and the Faroes. Atlantic coast of North America: Canada, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Long Island, New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia. Further afield: Arctic Seas from Spitzbergen, the Murman Sea, White Sea, Kara Sea, Siberian Sea, American Arctic Sea, Baffin Island and the west coast of Greenland.
