Litosiphon laminariae (Lyngbye) Harvey


Description: Small tufts of erect shoots to 3.5 (-7) cms long, filiform and terete. Filaments solid with an outer cortex of small cells enclosing a central larger cells.

Habitat: Common. Epiphytic especially on Chorda and Alaria in the low littoral and upper sublittoral.

Distribution: Widespread around the British Isles. Europe: Spain, France, Netherlands, Norway, Faroes and Iceland. Further afield: Arctic Seas: Murman Sea and Novaya Zemlya.
