Description: Thallus 10 to 20 or more cms long and 2 or 3 mm wide, gelatinous and branched. Long cells in the centre of young parts and covered with short assimilatory filaments, old parts may become tubular. Branching irregular or dichotomous.

Habitat: Uncommon. In rock pools in the lower littoral.

Distribution: Widespread in the British Isles. Europe: Portugal and Spain. Further afield: the Canary Islands.
