Aglaothamnion roseum (Roth) Maggs et L'Hardy-Halos


Description: Thallus filamentous, erect and finely branched to 7 cms long with corticating rhizoidal filaments near the base on the main axis.

Habitat: Common. Epiphytic, epizoic and epilithic from the low littoral to 20 m sublittoral.

Distribution: Records scattered around the coasts of the British Isles from the Shetlands to the Channel Islands. Europe: Portugal, Spain, Netherlands and Norway.

Similar Species: All species of Aglaothamnion and Callithamnion are similar and not easy to identify.
