Calliblepharis jubata (Goodenough et Woodward) Kützing


Description: A dichotomously or irregularly devided blade rising from a branched holdfast with a stipe up to 5 cms long. Blade generally less than 7 cm broad and up to 30 cms long with long marginal branchlets up to 3 cms long. Some branchlets may be elongated and hooked at the tips.

Habitat: Epilithic or epiphytc. In pools in the low littoral into the upper sublittoral.

Distribution: British Isles with a south western distribution, south-western coast of Scotland, around Ireland, Wales along the south-west coast of England, Isle of Man. Europe: Mediterranean, Portugal, Spain, France and as drift in the Netherlands.

Similar Species: Calliblepharis ciliata however C.jubata has longer profilerations from the blade normally more than 3 cms.
