Lithophyllum nitorum Adey et P Adey


Description: An encrusting coralline alga up to 2 mms in diameter. Margin thin without orbital ridges, smooth surface.

Habitat: Epilithic, sublittoral to 40 m.

Distribution: Very rare in the British Isles, a few records from south-west England, Wales, the Isles of Man, Scotland, Ireland and the Channel Islands. Europe: Spain and France.

Similar Species: Phymatolithon lenormandii (Areschoug) Adey.
