Description: Hard crusts up to 20 cms across with faint striations

Habitat: Rare. Epilithic on shells or epiphytic in the lower littoral and sublittoral to 19 m.

Distribution: Widely distributed in the British Isles on western coasts of England, Ireland and Scotland including the Shetlands. Europe: France.

Similar Species: Other species of Peyssonnelia and Haematocelis rubens.
