Description: A tiny mud snail, 4 - 6 mm in size, with a sharp pointed spire with relatively flattened whorls and shallow sutures. It has an operculum. The shell is usually dark in colour, and the animal itself has a grey body with some large pale spots and a darker head with white tentacles featuring a black ring near the tip.
Habitat: Around the coast in brackish lagoons or pools separated from the sea.
Distribution: Rare in Britain and Ireland. Only known from Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland.
Similar Species: Could potentially be confused with several other species of mud snail.
