Description: This limpet is widespread but less abundant than the common limpet Patella vulgata. It reaches around 6 cm in length and is grey-white on the outside with a white interior. The shell is a low cone with conspicuous ridges that project around the edge of the shell, and the apex is off-centre. There is quite often seaweed growing on the shell. The sole of the foot is an pale and even yellow-orange colour.
Habitat: Mid to lower shore rockpools. Seems to prefer exposed or semi-exposed coasts.
Distribution: Found on all coasts of Britain and Ireland.
Similar Species: Could be confused with the common limpet Patella vulgata, however the colour of the foot and the inside of the shell is diagnostic.
