Description: This amphipod grows up to 12 mm long. It is white in colour, and can be patterned with red, brown, violet or orange. The rostrum is small. The eyes are relatively large and brown. First, second and third segments of pleon have a single postero-dorsal tooth.
Habitat: Amongst algae on the shore or shallow sublittoral.
Distribution: Recorded all around Britain and Ireland.
Similar Species: Could be confused with Dexamine thea, but in this species the basis of pereopod 7 has parallel margins whereas in D. spinosa the posterior margin is expanded.
