Parvipalpus capillaceus (Chevreux, 1888)


Description: The body and head of this caprellid are smooth, with no projections or spines. The rostrum is not clearly differentiated from the head. There are no swimming setae (hairs) on antenna 2. Pereopods 2 and 3 are absent, or very poorly developed. Pereopod 5 is well developed, with 7 articles.

Habitat: Unknown.

Distribution: There are scattered records around Britain and Ireland, more in the north but this may just be coincidental

Similar Species: Could be confused with other caprellids; especially Caprella equilibra or Caprella fretensis but these both have swimming setae on antenna 2.
