Description: This is a small, erect sponge 1–2 cm in width and height. It consists of fused, rounded lobes arising from a slightly narrower base. It is beige-light brown in colour and has a distinctive grooved or sulcate appearance to the surface.

Similar Species: Could be confused with Axinella pyramidata with which it co-occurs.
