Acupalpus elegans (Dejean, 1829)

Description: 3.5-4.5mm long black and red-brown ground beetle occurring in saltmarshes and flushed cliffs on the coast. Old records exist for isolated sites in Kent. Old records from Essex and Yorkshire have been shown to be incorrect and a 1954 record from Hampshire is considered doubtful. Probably extinct.
