Amara eurynota (Panzer, 1796)

Description: A 9.5-12.5mm long dull bronze Amara of open soil, particularly on cultivated land. Phytophagous. Widespread but local.

NI account: Apparently very local and rather scarce.

Ecology: Like most members of the genus, this species prefers moderately well-drained soils, but is less fussy in this regard than some. Recorded from a spread of habitats including bare sandy soil, arable ground, a gravel path, oak woodland and gravelly soil by the sea.

Distribution: A Eurosiberian Wide-temperate species (64) distributed from west and north Europe into Asia Minor and east into western Siberia. Introduced in North America.
