Description: A 5-7mm long ground beetle with yellowish-bronze reflecting elytra. Lives in scraw, fen and poor fen habitats. Widespread but local.
NI account: Widespread and locally common, mainly in fen sites.
Ecology: A typical fen species but recorded also from densely vegetated lakeshores and riverbanks.
Distribution: A Eurosiberian Boreo-temperate species (54) found across Europe except the south, and eastwards into west Siberia.
Similar Species: Agonum micans: body unicolourous dark with greenish or bronze reflection; elytral epipleura brown, contrasting with dark elytra
